Glossary

Academy These are buildings inside a kingdom that are places of learning, thus helping Archmages by researching spells and crafting magical artifacts.
Admin(istrator) The customer support team that maintains order within the massively multiplayer Archmage, upholding some semblance of order.
Alliance One of the most important aspects of being an Archmage is to choose your allies carefully.  An alliance is formed when two Archmages use diplomacy to work cooperatively, allowing them to share troops as reinforcements and arcane spell knowledge.
Archmage The Archmage is a magician that uses both spellcasting abilities and political maneuvering to gain power.
Armageddon A spell that is so devastating that only the most powerful of Archmages would dare cast it.  If the spell is cast by seven different Archmages, it marks the end of the world.  Nevertheless, these individuals cast the spell willingly, believing that they would be forever immortalized if they survive the apocalyptic effects of Armageddon.
Bulletin Board Otherwise known as the Forum, this is a message board that players use to share their thoughts.  This is also referred to as the UBB, which stands for universal bulletin board.
Counter (Attack) There are two different definitions of counter attack:
1. By the game mechanics, a true counter attack requires that an Archmage lost land to an enemy or was subject to a devastating enchantment, thus justifying him to attack back in order to win back his territory; in effect, a true counter attack ignores the normal rules of engagement by allowing him to hit beyond his power range.  All such true counter attacks need to be taken within 24 hours of the initial assault.
2. In every day terms, a counter attack is simply a retaliatory assault after an attack that shows that an Archmage is ready and willing to wage war on his attacker.
Decalogue These are ten commandments that all Archmage players must adhere to, otherwise they will be deleted from the game permanently.
Developer A member of the original Korean team that designed the basic game engine of Archmage.
Guild A guild is a collection of Archmage players that work together for mutual benefit, such as helping each other in battles.
Moderator An Archmage player that has volunteered to maintain an ethical standard to an assigned bulletin board.
Multi-Attack A multi-attack involves a succession of consecutive war attacks by one Archmage on another.  While this is not practiced commonly as such attacks often lead to personal vendettas, multi-attacks are not considered illegal.
Multimage A multimage is a player that cheats by using multiple accounts on a server, who will have all of his mages deleted.
NAP "NAP" stands for Non-Aggression Pact, which is an agreement between mages not to attack each other although they are not allied.
Random (Attack) An attack whose target was picked by chance merely for the sake of winning resources.  There is no personal grudge involved in a random attack.
Seal A seal is a barrier that has been said to protect the mortal realm of Terra.  It is believed that there are seven of them in total.  Every time that Armageddon is cast, one of the seals is broken, causing a catastrophe that hints at the devastation if all seven seals were to be broken.
Upkeep Upkeep is the additional costs of buildings, heroes, and troops required to sustain them each turn after they were built, retained, or summoned, otherwise they will disappear from the kingdom
Validation Code Every game server except the Apprentice uses validation codes, a code that is automatically sent to a recently created mage's email address.   The purpose of this feature is to confirm that the new account is actually played and not abandoned by the player.  An invalidated mage is automatically deleted after three days of inactivity.  You only have to validate your account once.
